Alabama makes NCAA Tournament history with free throw futility vs. UCLA

By Robbie Weinstein, 247Sports: Alabama may have ran out of gas after Alex Reese’s long 3-pointer sent Sunday’s Sweet 16 game against UCLA to overtime, but it didn’t even need to come to that. The No. 2 seed Crimson Tide shot just 11 for 25 from the free-throw line against the No. 11 seed Bruins, and that included quite a few misses down the stretch of regulation as UCLA took a late lead.

Over the course of the season, Alabama had shot 71.9% from the free-throw line entering Sunday’s game. So this was out of character, and it wasn’t a small sample size either — it’s not like the Tide had only a handful of attempts.
