Duck Territory: The former Oregon quarterback is being praised for his surprise start this past weekend, taking home the NFL’sĀ Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for his Week Two performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. TheĀ freak injury to starter Tyrod Taylor put Herbert on the spot but the rookie rose to the occasion,Ā throwing for 311 yards on 22-33 passing with one touchdown, one interception, and adding another touchdown on the ground.
Being named NFL Rookie of the Week, Herbert edged out Jacksonville running back James Robinson with theĀ Herbert receiving 33-percent of the vote to Robinson’s 31-percent. Also nominated were Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, Tampa Bay’s Antoine Winfield, and Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor.
