Duck Territory: While former Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell’s reign as the Outland Trophy winner came to an end on Thursday night, the winner of the 2020 Award shares a common bond. The 2020 Outland Trophy winner, Alabama offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood was originally recruiter to the Crimson Tide by current Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal.
The Oregon head coach’s impact on the recent Outland Trophy winners actually dates back a few years with four of the last five winners being recruited or coached by Cristobal.
