247Sports: The Pac-12 Conference is reportedly inching closer to a return. California Governor Gavin Newsom and Oregon Governor Kate Brown said Wednesday that state public health officials will allow for contact practice and return to competition.
The announcements cleared a major hurdle for the conference, pushing the decisions to the local level. As a result, schools are now allowed to deal directly with local health officials on safety protocols.
According to Jon Wilner of the Mercury News, USC athletic director Mike Bohn and UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond did just that on Wednesday evening, holding a joint Zoom call with Los Angeles County health officials to clear a path for the teams to begin practicing.
